Organic Bar Soap

For a time, the organic bar soaps from centuries ago were almost lost. But today, people are starting to create their very own organic bar soap. It has become an art craft that people are starting to enjoy. Customize your organic bar soap to your favorite color and scent. You can also give someone special a tailored soap with the therapeutic benefits he or she needs. What’s great about creating an organic bar soap through the method of short-cut soap milling is that it will only take you a few hours to do it.

Creating an organic bar soap from scratch is messy. You can purchase pre-made soaps in craft stores and even in grocery stores or drug stores. For a 3.5 to 4 ounce organic bar soap, you will need one navel orange, 2 tbsp safflower or almond oil, 4 tbsp water, 2 drops lemongrass essential oil, 1 tsp vegetable oil, and ½ tsp cinnamon. First, let’s shred the bar soap into a microwave safe bowl using a grater. In the same bowl, grate the orange peel until you reach to the white yellowish area of the peel. Now, prepare your mold. Choose a plastic cup or any plastic disposable container that you have. Coat it with vegetable oil using a paper towel. Simply dip the towel and coat the container. Now, to melt the shredded soap and orange, add the water and the safflower or almond oil. Cover it with plastic wrap and microwave for 30 to 45 seconds. Make sure to watch it and ensure no bubbles rise up. If it hasn’t completely melted, replace in the microwave.

After melting, mix it with the cinnamon and lemongrass for about two minutes. After mixing, pour into the mold and use a spoon to pack the soap, removing the large air bubbles. You can also opt to do hand molding by simply rolling the soap into a ball. Next, wrap them in plastic wrap and place in the freezer for about an hour or two to harden. Enjoy your home made organic bar soap!
