Natural Body Soap
So what is natural body soap? You’ve probably seen one before but you don’t know it especially if you’re used to buying the more common soaps found in the supermarket. Let’s know more about natural body soaps and the artificial ones that are commercially sold in our markets today.
Natural body soap, as the name implies, come from natural ingredients, just like how it was made back in the early days when soap was discovered. It was only during the World War I that men started making soaps from artificial ingredients. It was due to the scarcity of the main ingredient of soap during that time. So what is that main ingredient of soap that makes it natural? It’s fat or oil!
Soap is made from fat or oil combined with caustic soda also known as lye. Of course, there are other ingredients such as scented oils from various herbs, plants, and flowers that make the soap fragrant, healing, or soothing, depending on what you want it to be. However, the commercially made bar soaps today are mostly made up of artificial ingredients. In fact, they should be called detergents what with the alcohol, artificial colors, isopropyl, propylene glycol, artificial fragrances, DEA, and Triclosan content they have. These artificial components are harsh and can be harmful to our skin.
On the bright side, thanks to the soap makers who continue to create the natural body soap, we can continue to take care of our skin with all natural ingredients. Natural body soaps are preferred for babies and adults who have extremely sensitive skin. With this kind of soap, you don’t have to worry about irritation caused by the harsh ingredients of the commercially made soaps. What’s more is that there are different types of natural body soap. There are those added with natural oils for various purposes. The soaps added with primrose oils and jojoba oils provide the skin nourishment. Many other types are available so just head on to a soap store or grocery and begin exploring your options.
